Purpose: The Lancaster Art Club was organized in 1962 for the purpose of encouraging and furthering interest in creative art in the area. It is an independent, nonprofit tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Financial support comes from annual membership dues, gifts, grants, and profits from fundraising events. The club promotes the study, practice and appreciation of all creative arts and crafts. Membership: Open to any person expressing an interest in creative arts or crafts. Members whose dues are current have a vote and may hold office. Each member is encouraged to serve the club in some capacity during the club year. Dues: Annual dues are $25.00 per person or $35.00 per couple and are due in full at the September meeting. Those joining after the January meeting shall pay $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple. Meetings: Regular meetings are held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month from September through November, and January through June. A holiday party is held in December, and the months of July and August are considered vacation months. Meetings are held at the Lancaster Veteran's Memorial Library, 1600 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Lancaster, TX. The meetings consist of refreshments, viewing and voting on the member’s mini-show exhibit, a short business session, and a program with a video presentation or a live demonstration by a selected area artist. Programs: The programs presented at the monthly meetings are planned by the Program Chairman. Area artists are invited to present a display of their works and give a demonstration of their art or craft, or a demonstration video done by a professional artist is shown. Workshops: Workshops are also planned by the Program Chairman and voted on by the members. At least one workshop is held during each club year. Fund Raising: The purpose of the Club is to encourage and further interest in creative art in the community. An annual fundraising project is necessary to enable the club to enjoy a variety of qualified demonstration artists throughout the club year. Exhibits: The club holds an annual exhibit of member’s works at the Veteran's Memorial Library each May. All members are encouraged to enter this non-juried exhibit. Other exhibits may be organized throughout the club year as decided upon by the members. Newsletter: A monthly newsletter is sent to all current club members. It includes news and input from members and officers, schedules of meetings, workshops and exhibits, and other news related to the activities of the club. Members are encouraged to submit articles or input for the newsletter. ********************************* ELECTED OFFICERS FOR THE 2007-2008 CLUB YEAR
